Big Beautiful Bill

They'll get steamrolled just like the House. Debt limit is tick-tocking away.

Maybe they'll grow a pair (or get scared by the bond markets) and strip it down to brass tacks. The defense and border security they want, with some payfors, and the debt limit increased. That's what Senate originally wanted but House wasted months of time with this crap and Dear Leader wanted One Big Beautiful Bill.

But they'll probably get rolled in the end too. We'll see who's scarier. Dear Leader or bond markets?

That's what the Senate did with their blueprint. That's what they'll do with the Senate portion of the reconciliation bill. Then it'll go back to the House, who may or may not vote for it. If they don't, a clean debt limit increase will easily pass both the House and the Senate - if they put it up for a vote. With the downgrade, they may figure why even bother - but the bond market may force it.

I'm not sure Dems will vote for a clean debt limit increase. Maybe it would be House Rs voting for it and just enough Senate Dems voting for it if a standalone bill.

But Rs can pass it on reconciliation. House Rs just voted this morning for a 4 trillion increase in the debt limit and that was on a bill that added trillions to the deficit. So they might still vote for it on a stripped down package.

This.
Trump calls them up personally if they are not cooperating to explain what will happen if they don’t vote the way he wants.

And the Medicaid cuts don’t kick in until the next President is in office so the GOP can blame him. It won’t be a woman because we can’t elect one of those for some reason.

They ALWAYS do this and voters fall for it every time.

No they moved those up to 2026. Remember poor people do not vote and have zero influence in Congress. The senate will cut a lot more!

Republicans are the ones who should be scared. A bunch of them are going to lose big in the midterms.

Americans are going to be bigly mad when they lose their benefits. Even in red states.

I understand no democrat voted for this, but how will we get the message across on what is in this gigantic bill to ordinary Americans? Like.. we need another Cory Booker filibuster just on this bill and what the GOP voted for....

There was a protest at the Capitol just yesterday. I’m sure that there will be more soon.

This bill is 1000 Plus pages, and was still being written yesterday — meaning that no one has actually read it fully and thoroughly, although I hope their staffs have. There’s stuff in there for almost everyone to hate. The key is making sure that the public knows —and understands — what’s in the bill.

They already know they're going to lose next year. That's why they're in such a hurry with all of this. They have a very short timetable to do anything.
