| When it comes to discussing / choosing schools for their children or a few other topics, it is hard to discern liberals from conservatives. |
It’s hard to tell because the votes of voters who voted early or by absentee ballot in 2020 weren’t attributed to their precincts, so the county’s precinct numbers just reflect the votes of people who showed up to vote in person on Election Day. Those voters were generally older and more Republican. |
Reston has traditionally been conservative. A lot of republican government officials used to live there and some still do, like Duck Cheney and Boehner. It also has a big NatSec presence, which also leans more Republican as well. But as with everything, it’s slowly shifting. With that said, the most affluent in Great Falls, the folks with the horses, those are all Republicans. 100% |
+1000. We’ve been in GF over a decade and I’m surprised by this number. |
Everywhere you go you see Youngkin signs and banners. How could this surprise you exactly? |

Except that is likely simply the % for people who voted in-person at the Great Falls precinct (one of several in 22066) on Election Day last November, and doesn’t include the people who voted early or by absentee ballot. |
There are signs for democrats as well. For some reason it seems that the republican signs go up earlier. There will be more signs for democrats in the weeks to come. |
| This thread is akin to sharing news about the sky being blue. |
Of course Glenn’s neighbors are voting Republican! |
No. Reston was never conservative. Jfc. |
But of course you know exactly what these people are all like. Don't approach me, but you're awful. |
Great Falls has always been a destination for self-made / immigrant wealth. Family money never went to Great Falls. Your cliche is very wrong. |
Sadly, there is nothing funny at all about our Dear Leader. It is a tragedy that an unwell man in the Winter of his years was urged into going after this position by the craven First Lady |
Seriously. Everyone who lives locally knows Great Falls has been heavily Republican for years. Anyone who falls in love with the semi-pastoral landscape, the small-town feel and a home with a larger-than-normal for the area lot and then clutches their pearls in horror is a big fat phony. If it's any comfort, I believe it's gotten substantially less repub in the last 10 years especially. |
