There are schools that you can call that make room. People keep pointing out that South Lakes is closed for transfers but kids move their from Herndon every year.

I was told the same thing about Marshall/Madison/Oakton. Both are closed to transfers (thought Madison is getting an addition this year so maybe capacity goes up?), but I don't know anyone who wasn't able to get an IB/AP-related transfer through. The feeder schools for all three have overlap, so it's not an entirely new peer set at the other school.
