Oh I'm ^^^ PP I should add, we are doing indoor lunch ![]() |
I’d volunteer for a shift or two. We’re close to a vaccine for the kids. It’s better than the alternative- a bunch of quarantined/ sick kids |
Everybody just has to compromise for a while until we figure this out |
Exactly! With a little creativity and all that federal funding designated for the purpose of keeping schools open, there are options. If the lunch issue isn’t mitigated, I believe many schools will face quarantines and closure within a month or so. We should be doing all we can to avoid that! |
No commitment or district wide policy for outdoor lunch in APS.
Just saying schools will offer it where possible. |
They need to do their damnedest |
Does anyone one know whether having extra HEPA air purifiers in the halls and in the cafeteria would help? Our school district already has them to add to increase air exchanges and I am guessing adding more would double or triple the air exchanges over a 25 minute period in a particular space. I would be happy to donate extra air purifiers if a school would take them and use them for the cafeteria and any other eating space. |
You guys crack me up that you think anything more is happening that hasn’t already. |
Why do you think it would be for just "an hour once a week?" Maybe your kids go to a school where the majority of parents have desk jobs from home. What about the schools where a majority of the parents need to work in person--as landscapers, house cleaners, in fast food restaurants, etc? |
I’m willing to volunteer at another school if there’s an unmet need. |
For several hours, five days a week? |
Our PTO (in an affluent neighborhood) can't even get parents to volunteer to donate a food item for the staff back-to-school breakfast. You think we'd have enough to staff lunch for all 6 grades, 5 days a week???? Lol. |
This, they won't do this unless they can staff all of lunch every day. Unfortunately volunteers aren't always reliable because most don't view it as a "real job" and frequently call out or cancel. |
How about if they see who shows up, and see if they can’t make it work, at least sometimes? Even one class pulled out of that cafeteria means more safety for all. |
I’m sure the parents of Arlington would be very chill if their kids weren’t the ones lucky enough to eat outside ![]() |
