CS major, UVA Arts & scienses school or Engineering school?

What are the math requirements for BACS vs BSCS?

GT is the best of the list. Get the BS vs. BA. UVA is still hard to get into - esp if you do not have 4+ years HS language.

As long as its CS, it's good.
Not many employers care whether its BA or BS.

The field is getting wider.
With BA, you would have more room for a minor.
Minor in things like finance, and it could be even better depends on what you want to do. You woll also have options for good consulting and financial firms.

My kid has BA with media Arts

Ok but what about entry level jobs?

Most of the employers don't care.

UVA CS Eng
UVA CS A&S
VTech CS
Georgia Tech CS

If tuition is not a factor just pure choice between these 4?

GT

I would pick UVA CS Eng. For the prestige and the flexibility in case I have to change to a different major, e.g. commerce.

Lol no. GT is more prestigious for CS and engineering

If you go to any of the four options listed in CS and graduate you will have many entry-level options and any slight difference is less importance than a) the goodness of fit for student of the degree, b)cost of getting the degree. I agree that if you go to a lower end school, a BS is a more important indicator.

+1 do well in any of those programs and you are looking at the same types of entry level jobs.

r/UVA
has actually professors clearing up what exactly the two programs have to offer and how they differ. I suggest you check it out after searching “BACS BSCS”

I’m a UVA CS grad, but GT is definitely the best of that bunch for CS. Not even close.

I agree and my kid went to uva (PPL) but applied to GT

Does anyone know the math requirements for UVA BACS vs BSCS?

Why handicap yourself? The BS is the stronger signaling device in the job market. If you want to show that you have soft skills, list some of your electives.

I know Harvard and BU ONLY offer BA in CS. Probably doesn't hurt their job prospects.

Sorry kid is still in college.
I meant to say my kid is majoring in BA in CS with Media Arts.
We specifically looked around for CS programs with rooms for other stuff, so looked mostly BA programs for CS.
