Not sure if this is a joke? Filling up prisons would make the pandemic worse. And why discourage low risk outdoor activity at all? Sun and fresh air keep you well. Access to the outdoors is our birthright as living beings. |
I could see fines increasing, but not imprisonment. I could easily see this tactic misused against people of color - which is (and has been) anti-American. |
This is either a troll post or you need help. |
Idiots like this never realize how it would be unfairly targeted against minorities. |
It's better than calling for a shoot on sight policy as has been suggested. Like that would get compliance. |
| I will miss full time telework and having an excuse to avoid family gatherings. I won’t miss worrying about my parents or the noise from neighbors having large parties all the time. It’s nice that places are open and they can party elsewhere now. |
Especially when they released or refrained from jailing the actual criminals in many areas. |
I mean, I understand your irritation if more work got foisted on you. For me, my office (government) went into full swing during the pandemic, so it was even more work than normal (in non-pandemic times) on top of having to care for kids and somehow keep up their educations. |
There is nothing stopping you from staying home all the time. There are plenty of shut-ins and hermits around. |

Newsflash! If you are violating a lockdown/stay-at-home order YOU ARE AN ACTUAL CRIMINAL! I’d much rather see some petty thief or drug dealer released to make room for people who are out spreading a deadly contagious illness. |
Also, if all of the irresponsible unvaxxed lockdown violators are locked up together they at least aren't out spreading covid to everyone else. |
We spent the pandemic in Canada. This did not happen. Stop watching Fox news and get a grip. We went for daily walks and runs, ate on patios last summer while cases were very low (single digit per day in the province), and spent lots of time in parks. It was all legal. The head of Public Health in British Columbia actively encouraged people to go outside. Ontario had a brief period of time where outdoor movement was restricted (it was removed shortly after due to backlash) but walks and runs were still allowed, and Quebec had an evening curfew. The punishment for breaking these rules were fines, not jail time. No one went to jail and most enforcement was "education" i.e. the cops tell someone to go home and only fine them if they refuse. British Columbia, Alberta, and Atlantic provinces never restricted going outside. |
DP This would explain Canada’s ongoing failure to curb cases. |
Uh, there is 1 case per 100,000 people in Canada (compared to 16 per 100,000 average in the US) and more vaccines per capita: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/world/canada-covid-cases.html vs https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/us/covid-cases.html Deaths per capita in Canada due to COVID are 0.378 (37%) of the US' (70.51 per 100,000 in Canada vs. 186.11 per 100,000): https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/data/mortality Not sure about 'ongoing failure'... |
