If a neighbor asked you to watch their unvaccinated kids for a few days, would you say no?

Lol.

You also know kids under 12 cannot get vaccinated.

Nice try.

LOL.
I was thinking the same thing. Who asks a random neighbor to watch two young children?

That said, this is something I would do for close friends. But not some random neighbor.

Are you best friends with this neighbor, OP? If not it’s a huge ask, COVID-19 or not.

If I would have done it in 2019, I would do it now, but we are not a high-risk family and dh and I are vaccinated. But I agree with the others, that’s a huge request. Watch them for an afternoon, no biggie. For three days? That’s huge.

You cannot vaccinate a 4 yo and a 2 yo.

I'm 100% pro vax but this is a stupid question.

That was my point. I'm not comfortable with the children in my home because they're not vaccinated (and likely won't be for some time). As such I think its a valid reason to deny the request but I want to know what others think.

Even before Covid there’s no way I would ever watch a neighbors young kids for a weekend. That is a huge ask.

Some of us are friends with our neighbors.

I think WHO is one of the most cautious employers actually.

Work conference? No. Emergency? Absolutely

Leaving a two and four year older with a neighbor for three days??? This is so far fetched.

I would say no.

Asking someone to care for your kids for three days, especially without pay, is quite an outrageous favor to ask.

Lol! Exact same here.

Sure! I charge 25 dollars an hour to babysit. If she can hand me 1800 in cash, I'd be willing. Vaccines have nothing to do with it.

Actually it's insane it would only be 1800? (I'm not an actual babysitter or nanny). Not worth it. Maybe 5k.

For anyone else, or under circumstances that allow time to hire someone, it is too much. Regardless of covid.

Nanny here.

I'd be happy to do this. My daily rate range would be $300-500 given the duration and number/age of the children, and the actual rate would depend whether the children sleep through the night, constantly fight, can safely be taken to the park and come back when they're called, etc. I would take care of the children in their own home and all food would be provided, including delivery for me one or two nights after I put the children to bed. Oh, and I'd require a written authorization that I could start emergency medical treatment for either child in the event that I couldn't contact the parent.

That’s a hard no for me. My spouse is immunocompromised. He is vaccinated but he does not have a level of antibodies that somebody who is not immunocompromised has. We know this because he had to get tested for that very reason. If I was watching somebody’s unvaccinated young kids, I will probably be taking them back-and-forth to camp and exposing myself and my family to other unvaccinated children on a highly regular basis. We are trying to avoid that so I would have to say no.

If my family was not in the position that he’s in, I would probably say yes.
