One clarification from OP. My impression is she genuinely wanted to move to the west coast for other reasons, but when her husband applied for jobs in one particular city she emailed friends saying she was excited to move there because her ex lived there. Still extreme deception, but it's not like the only reason she wanted to move was because of her ex.
