Likely/safety liberal arts colleges

See that sentence? It specified Vassar for a male humanities student.
The other suggestions are separate.

I think that they are offended by the idea that Grinnell was suggested as a safety.

I know some smart grads, if you are open to looking South.

Typical know-nothing advice. Grinnell doesn't have a male problem -- it's about as close to 50/50 as any liberal arts college out there -- and doesn't need or engage in AA for male applicants.

Try again.

Where does the post you are replying to say that Grinnell has a male problem?? I read it as males may have a slight advantage at Vassar (but still nothing noting a male problem there either). Then it lists 3 additional schools (with nothing related to males).

Also agree your tone does come across as angry....

I’m pretty sure Vassar isn’t a safety, even for a boy.

Wouldn’t be overly concerned about Oxy with an endowment approaching a half billion. It’s not like they are closing their doors any time soon. Also might be a good time to sneak in, if such worries reduce the number of applications.

Ha ha no. Vassar is no safety either.

I just get annoyed because so many DCUM posters on the college forum know so little and just throw uniformed opinions out as fact. At times I think the topic is being overtaken by QAnon.

That may be how you read it, but at least one poster responded to what I said by offering patently false info to attempt to prove me wrong.

Yep, still angry. Imagine caring this much. Also, to move you off your high horse for a minute, in the vast majority of years as published on Grinnell’s own website girls are admitted at a lower rate than boys. So spare us the boys don’t have an advantage outrage, as historically there is a clear pattern. Have a better day!

Well, "safety" is a relative term and depends on the student's statistics.

I am not familiar with all of them, but my kids each visited and considered Muhlenberg and SMCM as safeties but did not apply for other reasons.

If you're considering Muhlenberg, then also consider Ursinus, which is very similar in profile, location, and merit aid.
