This Pay the $250 and be thankful you didn’t kill a child. |
| Question because I don't know the answer....are you supposed to stop where there is a median, but there are breaks in the median? (I think no, but am not sure.) It's sometimes a little scary to stop on a road with 2-3 lanes in each direction, and a 40 mph speed limit--I hate when they have bus stops on streets like that. MCPS avoids it, but some of the private school buses stop on pretty busy streets, I've noticed. |
When in doubt, stop. Wouldn't you rather stop even though you weren't required to, than not stop when you were required to? |
|
Yeah OP, I looked up the laws here and realized if there isn't a divider even on one portion of a four lane road and you don't stop for a bus, you get a ticket.
Realized that other places I have lived either (1) have the four lane roads divided by a median of some sort, or (2) the buses stop freaking let kids off on four lane roads that don't. Not the case here. |
| To clarify, if the US stops near the portion that doesn't have a median. Blew my mind. |
| I’ll bet OP voted for the person(s) who approved guilt by photo in MC. |
Here's one simple trick for not getting a $250 ticket for passing a stopped school bus: stop for stopped school buses. |
It’s very possible that the OP did not see the bus. If there are 6 or 8 lanes of traffic. And there are several large trucks next to you, you cannot see the bus on the extreme opposite site of the road. |
So those truck-drivers also didn't see the school bus and also didn't stop for it? |
If there were trucks between OP and the bus, how would a bus-mounted camera get a picture of OP's car? Obviously there was a clear line of sight from OP's license plate to the bus's stop sign. |
And the camera was able to catch Op right through those trucks. |
| This just happened to me too. 400 days no school gave them time to put cameras on all the buses. |
I got one in Kensington despite being on the other side of a median with a CREEK running through the middle of it. |
| You don't have to stop on a divided highway otherwise both lanes of travel stop. |
This. Maybe the apartments were so distressing that she had hysterical blindness. |
