I suspect that most of the applications at St. Patrick's come from these groups which are large in size. So it's probably competitive for applicants that fall into these categories, because they all look alike. Probably not so competitive if you don't fall into these categories. Not sure about the *gem* part.

What in the heck is your problem? You just sound like a nasty, mean, idiot with a big 'ol chip on your shoulder... and you have no idea at what you are flaming away. You are wrong on every count. It is so bizarre how there is this small person, or small group perhaps, who loves to flame away at St Patrick's, at Beauvoir, at Lowell, at Sidwell, or at whatever school you want to name, every chance s/he gets. I mean, really, do you not have anything better to do? There is really no reason top flame away at any school unless you have some score to settle, and that just makes you look pathetic. Comments like these have no veracity and offer no assistance to anyone. Go crawl back under your rock.

So true and pp is so wrong!!! Actually only 35% of the students are from the parish and St. Pat's is a lovely, lovely school with very strong academics. Her DC was probably waitlisted or rejected!!!

PP sounds a bit harsh, and probably too snarky. But if you put aside the harshness and snarkiness, you will find truth. 35% of parishioners is about right. It may be slightly lower. But that is still a very high percentage and would seem to validate PP's point. The Beauvoir point is also fair. I know of no family at St. Pats who did not also apply to Beauvoir. I know of no current family who rejected Beauvoir for St. Pats. In other words, it's a Beauvoir backup. As for the everyone looking alike part, the absence of diversity is a recurring theme for St. Pats on other threads. Attacking PP is simply a cheap debate tactic. She makes otherwise valid points worthy of further debate.

The wheels are coming off the bus at Grace in Silver Spring and Kensington. I would think long and hard about enrolling there.

Honestly, you pop up on every Grace thread to say something like this. Lots of us like the school a lot.

Actually no, this is the first time I've posted. We've been there 7 years and loved the school. But for us, the writing is on the wall. We are done.

Doesn't St. Patrick's start with three year olds, not Pre-K? Beauvoir starts with Pre-K, so every family that started in the 3-year-old program at St. Patrick's could not have applied to Beauvoir.

But what on earth does this mean? You were there 7 years and loved it, but now you don't? Very confusing.

Not if you know the school.

I agree, this is confusing. And your 18:04 post doesn't further clarify anything.

Exactly! (I'm the poster who said it was confusing.) In the absence of anything substantive, the poster seems like a troll, pure and simple. It seems odd that someone would love a school for 7 years and then do a sudden turnabout and begin posting vitriol. I feel sure the poster is not a new poster, but one of those we've heard from before. If not, it would be very helpful if she could explain why she loved it for 7 years and now says she's "done."
