When my doctor said I could choose to be induced at 39 weeks I said yes without hesitation. I was induced with all 3 of my babies and delivered vaginally with great experiences. A bonus for my last two was not needing to worry about a mad rush to arrange childcare. Like the previous poster said, being induced made it a very relaxed and pleasant time for my husband and I to process together how our lives were about to change.

OP here. Woah... that is really intense. Now I am freaking out that I am not going in until I am 39 weeks and 4 days...

I’m the PP that had a stillbirth between 40-41 weeks with a seemingly perfectly healthy pregnancy until then (I was 34). I said it earlier but I just want to repeat that this is really really rare (and I’ve spent a lot of time with the numbers). That said, rare isn’t never and so you might ask your doctor if they’d do extra monitoring if you went past 39 weeks and what they’d do to see how comfortable you are with the risk. It is your body and your baby and your decision. Which, as with many choices in parenting, can be pretty overwhelming.

omg - i am gettng induced at 40 weeks 2 days. Today I am 39 weeks and 5 days.

OP, curious what you decided if you are willing to share...

I was induced at 39 weeks and 6 days. I regretted it whole heartily. It took almost 12 hours then I needed an emergency c-section because the baby’s heart rate was dropping. He was born a healthy baby but recovery was tough after being in labor all day then the surgery. I was 32 at the time and wish I had just let it happen naturally. Doctor said I could induce because I had PUPP.

Induction is fine depending on your bishop score but If baby isn’t ready it will fail. The poster above had an medically indicated cesection not emergency. That said the arrive study had a lot of flaws and as an ama pregnant person I am waiting until 41 weeks to induce if needed

She also got the cervix ripening the night before (maybe the afternoon before?) and then got pictocin (sp?) the next morning and their baby was born in less than 8 hours. They were home the next day.

He's been wearing 2T since he was 12 months old, so he's a big baby.

So much stupid in one post, it's astonishing.
