And, also, this is why we're not getting a puppy despite my 10yo's pleas.

I knew it was a lie and did it anyway. While I do most of the work, the giggles and laughs that the puppy has brought into our house is well worth it. She truly helped us survive this pandemic.

I presumed they would not be doing the work. What I needed to make sure of is if they could be self-disciplined enough to not encourage bad behaviors and habits. They passed that test when we borrowed a dog for a few days.

This is why I made sure I got the dog right for me, and am doing the training. I've gotten quite fond of my golden retriever, and I didnt consider myself a dog person.

My 10 year old looks after 3 pets daily, but cannot walk our dog-aggressive large dog. No one anticipated this when we got him, and I see the work she does on the other animals, so I walk the dog.

Yet even she forgets certain things sometimes. Ultimately, animals will always be the parent’s responsibility. I check daily that our pets have received their water and food and that cage doors are properly secured.
