If they do have MLS Next and ECNL, do you think they would allow the kids to choose which team they want? For example, maybe someone gets an MLS Next offer but would rather play the ECNL schedule...assuming that MLS Next is the higher team.

Unfortunately, MLS next would be the second tier team because it doesn’t have enough stability yet. ECNL will be the top team for most of the established clubs for the foreseeable future

Yeah. DP

I'm not sure MlsNext is going to be around that long.

Nope. ECNL is bad for boys teams. There is no competition for Arlington. It's CCL all over again. MLS next would be their top team.

LOL, no competition for Arlington boys. Only u14 Arlington team is in the first place in its ECNL division. In three age groups, Arlington boys teams are placed in 7th place or lower. Arlington's U13th are in 11th place, but the level of competition is not high enough.

Not the PP, but both of you have a point.

To be fair to the PP:
1. The Arlington aggregate record across all teams is: W48 L18 D20
2. While only one team is winning its division as you say, if a team is in second place with a W10L1D3 record (2005) or W9L1D2 (2006) and in both cases significantly higher GDs than the team marginally ahead of them in first place, it can legitimately also claim that the competition is inadequate.
3. No team has a negative GD.
4. The average team position is 5.3 out of 16. Richmond is tied, and only Charlotte SA and NCFC Academy are better - and comparisons between the Carolinas and Virginia are problematic because the two halves of the league have not played each other.

Perhaps it would be fairer to say that the competition is clearly not good enough for half its teams and there are too many uncompetitive games for all the teams. The problem is not so much that there are no other good clubs with multiple strong teams - there are, but there are too many clubs (e.g. BRYC, McLean) which are fielding uncompetitive teams at most age groups.
