Is anyone close to their SIL?

nope.

Husband's sister is a sweet heart and I like her, but we are not close geographically, and for various reasons have never spent much time together.

My brother's wife is bordering on insane. I can take her in small doses and just try to remember that my brother is happy.

No. I hate one of my SILs - she is a knee-jerk conservative who dislikes me just because I'm "a liberal" whatever that means in her eyes - she's made no effort to get to know me, so she has no idea what my views are.

The other is more friendly but also has drank too much of the right-wing cool-aid thinks its okay to repeat the rhetoric, which I think is incredibly rude to do when you know someone holds different views. She's also incredibly ignorant, so I've lost a lot of my respect for her.

I have not talked to my sister in years but my SIL is amazing, loving, and kind. I am much closer to her than my real sister.

Wow....the hypocrisy. And before you label me, I am neither a "knee jerk conservative" nor a "liberal."
