Commuting from DC to go to Potomac makes no sense

That completely depends where you are. Palisades? Just as easy to get to Potomac as St. Albans.

If you also work in dc then no the palisades doesn’t help.

Doesn't Potomac require student to take the bus?

Yes, after K kids ride the bus. Once they drive themselves they are able to park in a nearby parking lot and take a shuttle from there.

We live in McLean and I would choose STA if your DS is a strong student (which obviously he is). DS toured both for HS and DS did shadows at both, etc. He had a much more favorable impression of the school and the students at STA despite knowing kids at both. We also found the parents at STA to be very welcoming. We attended a soccer game and the parents were low key and friendly.

These are very different schools.

Academics are good at both. Sports are good at both. They are very comparable in the core areas

The things I would consider

1. Coed or single sex
2. Where you live-commute and community
3. Time spend on religious courses (is this a positive or negative for you)
4 What your child is ‘into’—each school has very specific areas where they excel /focus (example- Music, Debate, Engineering, Robotics, Business, etc)

Can you elaborate? What was more favorable about STA vs Potomac? What do you think about the commute, would that be worth it? How are athletics at STA vs Potomac? Thanks for any info!

Also, is STA all DC skids? Would a child from the burns fit in? Is single sex less of an issue since NCS so close?

The STA soccer parents are particularly friendly and welcoming. If you had attended another sport you may not have felt the same way. It can be a tough crowd.

I have no experience with STA, but Potomac US is a demoralizing academic experience.

?

This is a dumb comment. It’s episcopal!

Seriously. Clearly someone knows very little about any religions (e.g., a Catholic priest was the first to articulate the Big Bang Theory). PP lumps everyone in with the tiny sliver of fringe.

Are college placements similar for the top 20% or so?

Using your last question as a factor can only lead to disappointment Choose the school for the school, not grandiose plans for the future.

Does the episcopal church not teach a bunch of nonsense that can’t be proven?

In science class? Lol.

I went to Potomac and we lived in Barnaby Woods and both my parents worked downtown. Bus picked me up half a block away. This was the 80s though.
