For me as I am watching my sugar intake I eat one small dark chocolate piece a day. I gave up ice cream chips etc and will only eat cake for birthdays of my own, my dh and my two kids. |
We have a sweet treat some afternoons and rarely after dinner, unless we're eating out. It just doesn't get requested.
I've never been a fan of an after-dinner dessert...so painful watching some parents and kids fight and negotiate how many bites of broccoli = getting to have dessert. "No, *actual* bites. Not just putting it to your lips" (Ugh.) |
We never have dessert. We just don’t do dessert in our family. A treat for the kids are dried dates or apricots. They have cake and ice cream on their birthdays. They never ask for dessert because we’ve never had it at home. |
4 nights sweet/ 3 nights salty

My 8 and 6yo are really healthy and varied eaters. We allow a small treat (like 1 small organic cookie) plus a slightly bigger treat (chocolate yogurt, pudding, hot cocoa) - most days. Now that they are starting lunches at school again we’ll reduce it to once a day at home and something moderate. |
