Ok. This is a debacle.
The 3500 appointments for tomorrow need to be made available to the entire city. Thursdays appointments went to priority zip codes. Todays were available to ALL. Tomorrows need to be available for all. |
THIS.THIS. THIS. THIS. WTSUPERF |
They are having really low senior uptake in Wards 7 and 8. These folks are in multi-generational housing, so they are still at very high risk. I understand why they are trying to hold vaccines just for these wards. Frankly, I think they need to get a list of these seniors and just deliver the shot at their front door. My guess is that they are having a very hard time getting through the internet or phone to acquire a vaccination. These wards also have a large contingent of frontline workers. These are not your WFH white collar professionals. |
My skills acquiring concert tickets through Ticketmaster in 1999 finally came into good use. No way Gen Z kids or younger Millennials would've figured this out. |
If you are serious about equity then you should be willing to wait until early summer to get your vax. |
Phone appointments are gone. |
This phrase is becoming such an excuse. If DC is "serious about equity" they should give the vaccine allotted to DC's residents to DC residents. The Mayor's plan is to continue to deliver HALF of the vaccine allotted for my neighbors and me to out of state residents. Can you do basic math? |
Then open it to all residents there, and stop offering vaccine to out of state residents period. That will protect all DC residents. After that, vaccinate those who come in and out of the city if for some incomprehensible reason they are refusing to get vaccinated in their own state where vaccine is available to them. |
Check your privilege please. The residents and visitors who are entitled to the vaccine are being prioritized. |
Another overused phrase, though my guess is you are just trolling

And her health director is an idiot. |
The health director, Laquandra Nesbitt had an attitude with councilmembers when they complained about the difficultly of older, poorer and browner residents having difficulty accessing the system. She was flippant and unbothered. Now the entire city is seeing how bad the process and software is. Can you imagine not having any computer skills or help and trying to navigate this system? |
+1. they should have made a list months ago of these older and low income people, and now they should sign them up and contact them directly, bringing a vaccine clinic to the area. these are the people more at risk. |
+1. states get vaccines based on population, including DC. I do believe that doctors, nurses, police and firefighters, teachers, grocery workers, bus drivers and all front line workers deserve to be vaccinated with priority. however, a big chunk of these front line workers who work in DC do not live in DC. so we are either given vaccines based on the number of people who live AND work in DC (in short, DC is given more vaccines), or people who work in DC but live in MD or VA get vaccinated in their state. anyway, this is no excuse for the website and phone line failure. I knew it would have been hard to get a spot today but I did not expect to get a message that i called a non-working number or not be able to go pass the page with the code. |
| Also, there should be better pre-registration. Everyone should be able to have an account that includes a completed questionnaire BEFORE they become eligible. Then, when they are and appointments are available, all they should have to do is book the appointment. |
