It’s not like putting them in AP classes as freshmen is on the table at YHS (of course it is an option at Wakefield, for World History, I think).

You can take World History AP at WL as a Freshmen.

My rising 9th has been very comfortable in advanced math so far in APS (intensified Algebra 1 and Geometry). She’s had relatively easy As, no tutors, etc. Should she be concerned about this class?

We found MS math not up to the rigor of HS math. My kids easily obtained all As in the intensified math pathways in MS.

Have them take the exemption test at one of the local private HSs and see how they do . Eye opening, the missing material.

Yep. My DS took the placement test at a Catholic HS. He had taken algebra 1 in 8th grade at an APS school and didn't pass the Catholic school's algebra 1 test. Not even close. But he did get As in the class in 8th grade.

So, is “intensified” what would have been “honors” back in the 90s when I was in high school? My dc’s teachers recommended intensified geometry biology and English. No mention of history class/level.

In APS intensified is honors.

This is all super helpful!! How hard is it at YHS to drop down to regular A2 from intensified? I’m worried DC will get stuck there (eg, no changes because Covid).
