I live in Crownsville in AA County and I originally sent my oldest kid to private when they started middle school because I heard bad things about our assigned middle and high school (Old Mill Middle School South and Old Mill High School). After being underwhelmed with the private schools, I transferred my oldest to OMMSS and have had a very positive experience with it so far. The only complaint is the commute to Old Mill is 45 minutes, while three other high schools in the county are closer.
I wish there was a good zoned public to send her to. We missed the lottery since we’re not officially residents yet and can’t get a student id number, so there’s that. Public schools are too large. My child would get lost in the shuffle. We’ve already tried it for K-3. She’s in a private now and thriving in the much smaller setting.
