I mean, this is spot on. It reminds me of a guy I used to work with. I know several deeply religious people who are truly good people - they are tolerant and they seem to get a lot of comfort from their faith. This is something different. |

I used to have Kirk Cameron posters in my bedroom growing up.
I used to cut them out of Teen/Tiger Beat. I loved Growing Pains too. He has aged wonderfully - but his extreme religious antics make him ugly now in my eyes. |
As a person of faith (who is private about it) I always get deeply annoyed by "professional", high profile Christians like kurt and Candace cameron..they basically espouse literal interpretations of the Bible, lack true humility and appear to be minimally educated people overall...their world was show business and yet they feel comfortable speaking about their christianity as if it reflects all of christianity in all of its complicated nuances. Makes me crazy because they both seem un self aware and psychologically unsophisticated, him especially. He actually seems troubled. This is not reflective of healthy Christianity. |

Kurt cameron is a jesus zealot in the worst senseof of that word. Many of us as Christians have known a few...I try to ignore them, they are not well in my opinion.

| Before all of you jump to put Cameron and Candice down consider reading and learning the longest most influential book in all of history. You will understand the love Cameron and Candice have for Christ if you understood the bible. The bible and really knowing Christ transforms your life at any and every age. |
Candace Cameron is not normal. She left the hallmark challenge so she can only do movies with “traditional family values” meaning no gay couples. Also, she has a “traditional marriage” where her husband is allowed to make all the decisions. |

I think I read that (about Kirk finding religion because he went to church with a girlfriend) years and years ago.
I had no idea that girlfriend was one of the Creel triplets! I always liked them - I remember watching their Parent Trap movie when it came on Wonderful World of Disney. Wasn't there another one too? I also was glad to see her appear on Saved By The Bell. I had no idea they are Christians but it sounds like they are enjoying life right now. I hope they have peace, happiness and good lives. |
We were expressing patterns regarding their behavior and mental health, I am in the mental health field. Additionally, your presuming we are not Christians or don't understand the Bible or know Christ (wow!) because we are discussing and have issues with Cameron is presumptuous and ignorant. A lot of devout people have issues with his brand of Christianity. |
+1 The problem isn’t that he’s a Christian; the problem is that he’s an extremist. He’s anti science and bigoted. Faith doesn’t scare people, but fanaticism does. |
She’s super crunchy granola and doesn’t believe in vaccinating her kids. |
See I think that is normal. She has a personal belief, she is entitled to it and she decided instead of wasting effort arguing and railing against the network, she left, joined one that also shared her personal beliefs. It's a win-win. Hallmark doesn't have to deal with her personal beliefs that they don't believe in and she can join up with others who share her beliefs. The thing with TV is no one has to watch it and you are free to turn the channel. I also appreciate that she addressed the situation once and moved on. More celebrities should take note. People expected her to be "cancelled" and that didn't happen. |
The bible teaches bigotry? |
Being bigoted is not normal. Living in deference to your husband is not normal. |
Umm, I don't think you've googled Fred Savage lately. By no means an upstanding human, allegedly. https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/tv/story/2022-08-10/fred-savage-allegations-misconduct |
When I wrote that, he hadn't had that happen yet. He was just a watch-obsessed dad who drove his kids around and directed. |
