ES teacher here. This was discussed at one of our meetings. We limit the number of students in the space, just like any other space. We limit the number of students allowed in there during a normal year. It really isn’t rocket science. |
Exactly. I’ve been saying this for months. Who cares if we are comparing public to private. Once the kids are IN the building we all have to follow the same “rules.” And I know for a face that private schools are not socially distant all the time. Probably not the districts open in Virginia and definitely not the family I know going in other states. Yet FCPS can’t do it and now they all want two doses of vaccines and maybe kids vaccinated too. It will never end. |
DC privates do outdoor lunch. And cohorted kids. |
Not all of them. |
That’s a nice plan, but I’m a high school teacher and my child is in middle school. Both are planning on regular lunch periods in the cafeteria. That’s why I’m not comfortable with my DC going back. I can eat in a classroom but my kid won’t be able to at school. Are any FCPS schools having them eat anywhere other than the cafeteria? |
|
Probably because this guy is campaigning for governor on an open schools immediately
“We’re doing something unprecedented in this campaign. We’re actually working with the Open Fairfax, Open Loudoun, Open Prince William movements and all throughout Virginia,” he said. “We’re going to take on obstructionist school board members who are standing in the way, putting unions ahead of children, and we’re going to recall them.” https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/politics/f...ols-message/2552045/ |
I wish people would stop talking about whether the "feel" safe. You can't feel virus exposure. And you can do risky things and not get sick or do low risk things and get sick. That's how statistics work. We need to improve the statistics as much as practically possible and then send kids back. Outdoor lunch? Yes, to the extent possible. Air filters? Yes, to the extent possible. Open windows? Yes, to the extent possible. Some indoor lunches, some classrooms without windows and imperfect air filtration shouldn't keep schools closed. |
If he wins, I will swallow a tarantula. |
Yes. My ES is using the cafeteria, gym and some classrooms. |
PP here. I’ll add some assigned, covered outdoor areas when weather permits. |
My DD is in 7th grade. 40% of her school chose hybrid. Which means that 20% of students will be there on a given day. I'm comfortable with them eating in the cafeteria at 1/5th capacity. |
I know our grade level is about 75% in person and the school is similar, but with the gym, cafeteria, some other rooms being utilized I think we’ll be ok. |
Right. After a widely shared and discussed op-Ed in the WaPo saying that since this was the teachers unions positions, we should stop vaccinating teachers and vaccinate truly essential workers and 75+. |
And he might well win. 11 months in, parents are breaking. And completely lost when teachers got prioritized over the elderly, and then the union started with, okay great, but kids too. I know, she doesn’t speak for you. VA doesn’t have unions. Except, now, you do. And you get collective bargaining rights in May. So, that means the. Union does speak for you. In will. Legally in May. And she is who the union members elected. Now, maybe they would have chosen someone else had they known how this would play out. Then again, most of the parents inNOVA would have made different choices for SB and maybe Governor of we had known how this would play out. We’re trying to fix our mistakes and recall the SB. If Adams doesn’t speak for you, participate and hold a no confidence vote. Because this summer, she could be be agreeing to contract terms on your behalf. |
| I will vote for anyone can get kids back to school. |
