Solid U13 matchups. |
FCV may have requested Pipeline, but not Md United. They have friendlies set with them for this weekend. Don’t need no stinking rematch. |
Maybe you can go play BRYC for a third time. Let’s not forget, that’s what YOU guys scheduled over McLean. So..... |
VDA plays FCV at 15 and 17. Can you read? |
Plenty of factors go into making tournament schedules. Sorry fcv, your preference isn’t the top priority. |
He wrote this before the schedule was posted. Now, he has egg on his face |
Bethesda U13B I think finished at the top of MLSNext League against DC United, SYA, Achilles, Armour, etc in the Fall. Very strong team. VDA and Richmond United were strong ECNL team's but Bethesda will probably win both of those games. McLean was at the bottom of ECNL so not much of a challenge. |
Not sure how you could think that Bethesda finished at the top as I don't think scores or standings were posted for MLSNext U13B. Also, DC United does not have a U13B side. I would be surprised if Bethesda U13B beat Alexandria in MLSNext league play. |
I know both sides and wouldn’t be surprised if either beat the other at any given time. Bethesda teams begin to have substantial size and athletic advantages at U12 and this group was no exception. Richmond and VDA are really good in this age group as well. |
We heard games will be taped so players can send footage to colleges after the tournament. Not streamed but taped which is just as good in my opinion. |
And any plan old league game can be filmed and sent to coaches as well. Even a scrimmage for the cost of a ref. The whole point of a showcase is essentially the convenience factor for college coaches. If the coaches can’t come then what’s the point? Just arrange your own scrimmage or send leave game film instead of paying for a showcase that coaches can’t even attend. $800 per team down the drain for nothing. |
“Setting up scrimmages” is harder than you’d think. There will be college coaches there. There were coaches at the Florida ecnl showcase. |
Is this true...Someone told me that college coaches do NOT watch teams play. They watch individuals play. So if your kid wants a coach to watch them at one of these tournament/events, they need to send that coach a head of time...film of them, their grades, the time of their game, what field they are playing on, what team they are on, and their number, etc. This way the coach has a list of those players interested in THEIR program that are playing in each game THEY are attending and this way the coach can pay special attention to those players. Is this true? It makes sense to me because why would a college coach just watch a game? I mean, say a college coach just watches a game and likes a particular kid. Is that college coach supposed to contact that player's club coach, ask about grades, ask about their interest in playing college soccer, ask about their interested in their program, etc etc. Seems like it would be horribly inefficient and a possible colossal waste of the college coach's time if the kid wasn't even interested in that school or doesn't have the grades for that school, etc. but is just playing because their team is in this showcase. Thanks |
Bethesda won 2-0 against Alexandria in October https://mobile.twitter.com/bethesdascnews/status/1323454478574563328 |
This is true, the coach is there to watch the player, not to watch a team or a game. |
