showering at the gym?

I've always just gone barefoot... never had a problem (yet). But I really am curious as to how shower shoes really help unless you're throwing them out every day...

I'm the PP who got super cheap flip flops from Target. They are a foam material and don't really hold onto much water. I let them sit out while I'm getting ready and they're pretty dry by the time I'm done. My gym bag has outer pockets so I put them in there and that lets them air out.

weren't you the one saying urine is sterile?

Uhh, no.

Knowing someone had peed in the gym shower doesn't trouble me. I am wearing shower shoes, for one. Plus, it's a shower. There's hot water and soap running down the tile constantly. I don't know what kind of radioactive super-cling pee you've experienced, but I suspect that's more than enough to wash away whatever cooties you're afraid of.

As others have mentioned, athlete's foot is a far more common concern in a gym locker room.

what i do with my flip-flops after the shower: when I work out, I wear a t-shirt over my sports bra while I'm lifting and then take it off when I'm actually doing cardio. So the t-shirt doesn't get very sweaty. When I'm done showering, I wrap my flip-flops in my t-shirt, which dries them off and keeps them from getting moldy. Every couple weeks I throw them in the wash with my towels.
