If you've had dermal filler to face...

I'm 51 and have been getting fillers since 43. I only get it around every 9 months to a year. I get laugh lines and under eye filler. I also get botox for my 11s.

Is Juvaderm the only filler option for the nasolabial folds?

I was thinking about it for my marionette lines. I hate how my mouth looks like it's melting into my chin!

How natural would you say it looks?

My experience at 40- I’ve had filler in my “smile” lines (wore off quickly but looked good while it lasted), my lips (just a little and results were pretty, but my lips are full anyway), and Sculptra in my undereye/ upper cheek bone area.

All at different times, I started experimenting around 34. Results always natural looking but fillers don’t last long imo (6-8 months max, except Sculptra). Look at before & after photos & read the fine print about the quantity used. The great transformations pics you see often use 2-4 syringes which gets pricey.

I loved my results with Sculptra - huge long lasting difference. Works differently than other fillers. Fair warning- I loved my results from the first appt I had but I had terrible bruising across half of my face after. I had a very experienced MD inject me, and he had never seen that degree of bruising on someone. I was due for another injection a few weeks after the first and I was still ready to have it but he refused to do it.

I think I was just in the unlucky small % of people with an initial bad result but he wasn’t comfortable risking it again. But post bruising the results lasted about 2 years and were amazing.

* btw I’ve never seen or heard of filler moving- it just doesn’t work that way.

You don't need a doctor to do it. At many places the plastic surgeon doesn't do anything but high risk areas. A nurse injector does it, and really they have more experience because they do it ALL the time. I've been to several different places and always end up with great results. Do an Instagram search and you'll see their "portfolio". I reccomend a Derm Spa type of place over a plastic surgeon's office for the reasons I mentioned.

If you're getting undereye fillers I'd recommend going to an oculofacial plastic surgeon. A lot of places don't do fillers on this area because it's a bit high risk, and an OF specialist knows more about the area than a dermatologist.

I had a plastic surgeon do my undereye area and the results were/are beautiful. She's an industry leader in undereye fillers (Dr. Naderi). I have been to many other med spas and they all have at least one nurse that offers undereye fillers. I wouldn't go to an OF, they have more experience with eyelid surgery but a plastic surgeon is going to have a lot more experience with fillers.

You can do restalyne. I switched because juvederm always migrated.

Has anyone been to the ProMD Health in Arlington? Or any of the others, really. Reviews are good but I'm always a skeptic.

47, just started doing it under my eyes. Looks much better and add in some botox to the crows feet, I took at least 5-6 years off.

PP here. Agree that for fillers, you need a plastic surgeon to get them done right

It does migrate occassionally. I have a tiny ridge formed on the side of eye from filler. The good thing is filler can be dissolved easily.

What about a dermatologist?

I notice degradation around 7 months and it's totally gone by 9 months.

Are there any lasting changes or your face goes back to exactly how it was 9 months ago? I'm nervous about not liking the results...

I'm the pp that wrote this. I've had it done 3 times so far. It basically just goes back to what it was before, with more pronounced folds. I will say that they usually say 9-12 months is normal, but I work out a lot (eg, I did 22 miles this weekend) so that makes my body metabolize it faster.

Got my under eyes done at 35. The issue was darkness (I don’t have bags). I Love it...been almost one year and still working so hoping to get another 6-8 months out of it. WIll probably do again and if I can ever not wear a mask again, I will do my lips.

I had zero bad reactions - zero bruising, zero issue. Loved it right away.
