Before the pandemic my routine was more consistent because my people (DH and kids) would be out of the house by 7:30 and it also be blissfully quiet. I would take my time getting ready before leaving for work at 8:45. I would read, often do a quick meditation, maybe walk the dog around the block, get fully dressed. Ahh.
Now: 6-7 half sleep, half fend off kids who crawl in bed or ask for food. Wait for the sign that the mama snooze button is annoying them and get up. 7 pee, gather the crib bound kiddo, take kids downstairs for breakfast. 7-7:20 make kids breakfast, drink water, make coffee, grab kid clothes from their rooms 7:20 - 7:40 clean up breakfast table, tell kiddos I can read the book they find as soon as I finish my coffee. Enjoy said coffee. 7:40 - DH comes down, I get a second cup of coffee and he takes over kid duty 7:45 - 8 or 9 (depends on meetings), make bed, get back in and drink coffee, read news. After about thirty minutes I change and do quick makeup. Walk to my desk and begin my work day. I really need to start getting up before my kids again. I relish the alone time when it’s quiet in the house. Also, I freaking love not having a commute. |
No real routine except I make my coffee the night before so it brews at 6 AM. I wake up between 6 and 7 and get my coffee and bring it to bed and read and watch the news. Then go do whatever is happening that day. I WAH but only for 2 more weeks then I won't have a job and I can't wait. 3 kids are learning at home right now. |
Wake up
Make sure rest of family is awake Make coffee - we never did this pre-pandemic. We always bought it on the way or near our offices. Drink coffee while catching up on news Make kids breakfast Start work day |
6:30 - cat starts poking at me. Tell self I should just get up.
7:00 to 8:00 - alarm goes off every 9 minutes while DH and I beg the other to turn it off. Tell self I should get up and start work by 8:30. 8:01 - cat calms down and snuggles up with me, start reading news on phone. 8:30 - curse DH for not making coffee, throw on clothes (or at least real pants), make coffee and start guzzling 8:59 to 9:01 - retreat to office to work I exercise and shower at night and my brain doesn't really work well until 9 am anyway. No kids in the house. |
7am- wake up, throw on clothes, brush teeth and walk the dogs
7:30- make coffee, feed dogs 7:35- water outside plants (I live in Fl) 7:45- drink coffee, read headlines, check email 8:00- morning zoom call with team |
Get up around 6:30
Make then drink smoothie Drink tea, read WSJ & DCUM Shower/get dressed and start my day |
