People north of Lee highway who are pissed— email the school board and tell them to go with option a/b. Either that or move all of Asfs to key. With the drop in enrollment, key can has the capacity. They heard from Lyon village because they were pissed, but they didn’t hear from anyone who liked the proposal before they mucked with it.
Then advocate to take back Madison manor community center so you have an elementary school that actually is walking distance from where you live. Saying you can cross Lee highway will not work, they don’t even let high schoolers cross it. I run on Lee highway all the time by myself, and I’d never let my fifth grader cross it by herself.

Taylor will not be able to relieve capacity for the next five years— in this proposal it is at 80% or below. There is no way to fill it. They boxed themselves in.
Asfs on the other hand is over capacity. The only kids that can be moved out in the next five years is the area in courthouse, which is also the only affordable housing at asfs. So in the next round, their only option is to move courthouse to long branch (or Hoffman Boston or fleet) to relieve crowding at asfs. This causes asfs to go to 0% f/rl, long branch and key meantime will be closer to 50%. So you end up with taylor at 70% with >10% f/rl, asfs at 100% capacity but 0% f/rl, and long branch can no longer be used to relieve crowding south of route 50. Taylor never gets filled unless it goes option.

You are forgetting about the American Legion project. That will add a significant number of f/rl students to ASFS.

My middle schooler crossed Lee hwy every day. The picked up at one side and dropped off on the other.

No. You’re child is not a currently enrolled student, so there’s nothing to grandfather.

You could re enroll at the end of the year. Not sure if that would work but you would be a student at year end.

According to the slides the4th graders need to be enrolled as of Dec 7, 2020 to be grandfathered.

Well that throws pee in DS cornflakes. If they had made DL or hybrid work we wouldn’t have had to homeschool our DS and now they won’t even let him return for his last year.

If grandfathering is a priority for you, you have a week to re-enroll your child. If you don’t, then it’s your choice to give up grandfathering, nor something being forced on you.

I'm at Taylor and have heard nothing about these boundary changes from the pta. Is the news change really as bad as people here are saying? The enrollment rates don't seem to be changing based on the excel file I pulled up.

What would you think was bad? Taylor is likely going to be a much smaller school.
