| NOT Willow |
Every single girl I knew in Spain was named FirstName Maria LastName. Depending on where you're from, it's constantly used. Hate that name. |

Alyssa
Willow Maria Alyssa and Willow are close, and would just depend on flow with last name. |
| How about Alicia or Marissa? |
Willow sounds like a hippy name to me and this kind of reasoning reinforces that idea. Go with Alyssa or Maria. I think Alyssa sounds beautiful. It was probably more popular a few years ago, but I don't think of it as dated (maybe I'm dated myself). Maria is a little boring to me, but lovely. I love the song from West Side Story. |
| How about Willa? |
|
Today my high school English class learned that willow symbolises lost love and despair in Shakespeare (the "Willow song" in Othello, Ophelia dies as she falls from a willow tree in Hamlet, etc).
So there's that. I would never name a child this. |
| I like Alyssa. Maria isn’t bad. Willow is awful. |
+1. Split the difference! Usually that idea would make me cringe a little, but between Alyssa and Maria, there are some good “real” name choices. |
Since OP is posting on a DC based message forum, and the other names are "Alyssa" and "Willow" (and not "Ana" or "Pilar") I'm going to assume that OP is not from Spain or other Spanish speaking country. Maria is actually popular in many non-Spanish speaking countries (Italy, Portugal, Hungary.) |

Ugh OP. I know a Maria I can't stand (but then everyone probably does).
Can you throw out what your LN is like and will you take new suggestions from the board? |

What about combining them?
Aria (Alyssa + Maria) Marissa (Maria + Alyssa) Malia (Maria + Willow) |
| Maria |

Maria.
My cabbage patch came with the name Willow Opal in 1986. It was bald and I thought it was a boy for several years. It always seemed like a weird name. Agree Alyssa is dated. |
