St. Joe's in Philadelpia. A more liberal and urban option is Loyola Chicago. |
No it wasn't. |
Good Catholic colleges for safeties are Boston College and Notre Dame.
Also good for corners. And linebackers. |
BC and Notre Dame are not safety schools. |
Strong safety or free safety? |
St. Bonaventure
CUA Belmont Abbey Not a safety, but maybe a target - Villanova |
Yes it was! And he didn’t need it thankfully. |
My son went to Boston College and loved it. It's a great school! |
LOL that went over PP's head big time. |
St. Joe's is struggling financially and looking to merge with another school. |
This is a good point: a lot of Catholic colleges were on thin financial ice already before the pandemic, so it's worth checking on the state of things before pinning your hopes on one. For instance, I would have put John Carroll in the mix, but it's very tuition-dependent and in its current financial straits it's trying to fire a lot of faculty. You wouldn't want to choose a college whose curriculum had been gutted by the time you got there. |
St. Louis University |
Catholic colleges have intense, time sucking gen eds. Great for a liberal arts kid who loves philosophy, theology. Providence students are required to invest two years completing Western Civilization. BC, Nova, Fordham also heavy on gen eds. Fordham registers freshman 1st semester. They can only select one choice in the theology, philosophy menu. They have a math placement exam for first years. Quite a few AP's will only count toward electives and not place them out of core classes. |
