Except it is new? The 25 player/ coach limit is down from the current 50 limit. |
Yes the 25 player/coach limit for the game is new. Council members were commenting on this at the meeting Thursday. Will probably go into effect on Tuesday when they vote. |
What did the council members say? Other than its new. Bc that size is hard to do with 2 teams for 11 v 11 unless no subs |
They were talking about how it’s difficult for any youth sports game with that size limitation. Asked Dr. Gayles if a distinction would be made for outside vs inside gatherings. The answer was no. |
| Yeah, this stinks for soccer. 30 would work. But 22 kids on field, 2 coaches, 1 ref....there’s no subs at all which is really hard for kids to do and not healthy. |
He's just so vindictive. There is nothing that he does that makes any sense. |
Keep the subs off the field then until just before they go in. |
| The real question is how will they enforce such a silly law? |
If your kid can't play a whole game they shouldn't be in travel. |

Both of you clearly never played competitive soccer... |
At best - he lacks citing science by CDC, WHO, and groups like Harvard and often does the opposite of their science and creates his own “science”. Wastes time of the council - this is about the 4th round of back and forth. But as long as Moco Council doesn’t push back for science from the national experts, not a Moco one off - this will keep happening. And the local media champions him as a hero . |

Bethesda Premier Cup for U15 and above will be played at the Germantown Soccerplex this weekend.
How in the world will teams handle this situation? Only card 11 players each? Most teams have at least 15 players. Common sense tells me that MoCo will change the ruling to at least 30 players or more. It’s completely stupid to do anything otherwise. It’s not the matter of players can’t play the whole game but injuries happens and substitutions are required. |
Over the Summer Montgomery County police actually chased kids off the field during a Summer camp being run by a club (that was also later fined by the county). |
+1. Police were at the soccerplex daily - not just clubs but informal pick ups of just a handful of kids. For the clubs, they were threatening large fines on coaches. |
