Anybody installing DC Covid Alert Notice (DC CAN) today?

I'm debating installing it on my work phone, if my office says it is permitted. (I'm a fed.)

Installed it the day it came out. The only notices it gives me is when I shut off my bluetooth and it warns me against doing that. Haven't seen anything else.

No alerts received about exposure. I did get another opt in/out notice the other day about letting DC health use anonymized data from the ap and exposure data it collects. It was the first notice I had received since installing it on day one. Right now it just shows a drawing of a lady watering her garden and says no exposure.

(I don't go out often and when I do I try and maintain my space.)

Nothing on my end. But I only go to the grocery store twice a month and that's it. Don't live in a crowded complex either.

I understand the emotion, but what is your educated reason for passing on this.

I would have thought that we could have distributed this in April and it would have been super useful, but I cannot come up with a solid reason why it would not still be useful today.

Honestly, I don’t need the stress of getting a notification if I happen to be close to someone else who tested positive. If I have symptoms, I’ll go take a test. But, there’s no real reason for me to deal with the fear and anxiety that will come from this.

But you could still have the virus (and infect others) even if you don’t have symptoms. So this will help you avoid the additional fear and anxiety of wondering after the fact if you passed it on to someone else. No?

Isn't that the same with every illness under the sun?

No, because asymptomatic infections are pretty unusual with most viruses.

Are there any available stats on how many people have signed up for it?

I have it installed. No notifications.

You can go into the settings and check the Exposure Log files to see how many times it checks you against the database of potential exposures (or vice versa).

I was actually wondering about this the other day. No notifications for me and I work full time in a hospital.

Sounds useless. Hard pass.

I’ve asked a fair amount of people with the app on their phones and no one has received any notifications. Nor have I. Anybody know anyone who has actually seen one?

To pp - I checked the logs on my phone to confirm that the app is actually doing something - and man, I guess I pass a whole lot of people on the average day. Especially not to have had any potential exposures...?
