Parents posting critiques of their kids’ teachers on Facebook and other social media

I disagree. Though not specifically naming is better, her daughter’s third grade teacher might be known to the friends. You are still identifying a professional and criticizing her on social media.

People leave reviews for service providers all the time. I'm frequently asked by the providers to leave reviews on Facebook/Google/Yelp.

So you equate a teacher to.... wait staff?

People leave reviews for doctors, lawyers, accountants, dance studios, business owners, etc. Teachers should be fair game too.

Only teachers will never see those FB reviews so they can’t use them to approve. It’s the equivalent of teachers posting low-scoring student work in the teacher’s lounge and not sending it home.

That’s a site your doctor might actually see and be able make changes. Teachers are not your Facebook friends so they have no idea that you think they talk too fast, too slow, too little, grade too hard, don’t correcting spelling in math problems, or whatever is leading you to rant on FB.

Most school systems have expressly forbidden this because they know Facebook is not the appropriate place to express school frustrations. Somehow parents don’t get that.

This is an example of several lawsuits just waiting to happen. It’s not ethical to post reviews about people like this on social media. Would you want someone to do that to you, and possibly alter and ruin your life? What happens if you are a good person and someone criticizes you just for the heck of it?

Teachers wanted all distance learning and this is an unintended consequence. If you’re in parents homes, parents are going to have an opinion about everything you do. Don’t like it ... push to get back in the classrooms.

Actually, both are toxic and unhelpful. Write to the teacher and principal.
