If you don't get the peloton rage, why?

You’re not sitting down - most of the rides your butt is suspended in the air as you pedal. Think Tour De Force rather than kiddie bike.

Also I bought a Stages bike (same price as a Peloton) and much better hardware and plopped it in front of a flatscreen to avoid the Peloton membership fee.

Have never liked being locked in to gym or class memberships and Peleton is the worst in regards to that - the bike is just a giant paperweight if you refuse the extra $40 a month for life.

Yeah, this thread is so weird. OP already knows she isn’t interested in a Peloton, yet wants others to tell her why they aren’t either?! And for what it’s worth, I’m not interested in a Peloton (or any stationary bike) but don’t need to discuss it.

Why are you in this thread?

I just bought one and had many of the same concerns but we spent more on our family gym membership than we will for our peloton.

They have changed many of their classes to include getting off the bike and using weights, bands, etc.

If you rely too much on the "system" for your exercise you won't be as successful until it comes from you

I'm a PP that posted above about just not needing it.

I think, after some reflection, it's also a negative to me that there is so much of a "thing" about it. You can't mention Peloton without getting caught up in something, whether on an anonymous forum like this, or in person. I dislike the drama.

I tried a friend's, and again, it just didn't seem to add anything to my life, so why would I pay? (Of course, people differ, and that's fine.) The prospect of getting cornered in discussions if someone sees it or I accidentally mention is is just one more drawback.

It doesn't sound like you want a discussion or to see things any other way since people who enjoy their Peloton workouts aren't welcome on this thread.

Are you this close-minded and myopic in all aspects of your life?

Given your sunny disposition, PP, I'm sure people are just clamoring to have lengthy, in-depth discussions with you. Sounds like a fun time!

This thread isn't about why you enjoy Peloton workouts. (?) It's also not a request to rhapsodize about it and change other people's minds.

I think you want this thread, "Peloton Fans:"

Nah, I just happen to talk in person about other things than brand names. But I am glad you have something you enjoy?

I'm a PP who just ordered one and this was also a concern for me TBH. But I feel like I can generally avoid it by not posting about it or talking about it. I don't usually talk about the exercise I'm doing anyway!

I don't get the rage because I do like working out at home and would rather do my cardio outside. I have tried the app and still don't enjoy home workouts. I have lots of friends who love it. To each their own.

I don't usually talk about the exercise I am doing, but I can see stubbing my toe on it, and then it's a slippery slope to being deluged with "I know you didn't ask, but here is why I love Peloton!!"

Ew.

The people are so annoying. Heaven forbid you say you don't like it, the cult gets so triggered.

How do we know you have/use a peloton? Because you won't shut up about it.

And yes, lots of us want to be upright when exercising.

For me it's just the $$. I have a home gym and love all kinds of diverse exercise. I tried the Peloton app when it was free and enjoyed the content, but no way am I spending 2K on a piece of equipment and a monthly fee for their programs. I'm good with free weights, BeachBody, and youtube (and running/biking outside).

I was paying $120/month for Lifetime.

A year ago I would have told you I would never, ever get a Pelaton.

I cant run due to hip issues. I hike and do yoga.

I started cycling because my son (who is a D1 athlete) said my trainer wanted X to cut 10 lbs and is makes him bike, really it’s how wrestlers cut weight. You should try it to lose those last 10 lbs. so I did and I did.

Yes my butt hurt for 2 weeks.

But Covid came and now I’m walking and yoga.... but the weight is back. I’ve tried weight lifting too.

I don’t know if I’ll like it or not but my Ex H just bought me one... haha!

I’m older and I can’t go to the gym and I don’t want to work out with a mask. So we shall see.

And, yet, you don’t seem to know the definition of upright.
