Are there any tight knit catholic communities in Va?

Interesting, I can see St Agnes's cross from my house. I would not have described my neighborhood as Catholic. I mean obviously there are people who send their kids to the school, but they are far outnumbered by the rest of us.

OP is not referring to neighborhoods but communities of Catholics around a church. Your neighborhood is more old hippy/nouveau riche.

OP wants a place where "all the neighbors are celebrating the same traditions and holy days as each other." Sounds like a neighborhood.

DC just isn’t traditionally Catholic the way a city like St.Louis is.

I'm not the PP, but we go to Good Counsel and we don't live anywhere near it (our parish church is too conservative, so we instead go to OLGC.

It’s called the entire USA. There’s a reason there are Jewish neighborhoods — we’re a minority. Catholics are Christians — you all own this country.

Gentle tip: not all Christians are Catholic. And, many Christians strongly dislike Catholics. Google it.

Is Amy Coney Barrett already house hunting?

I am not quiet sure what you are looking for but I am a liveral WOC and I go to St. John Neumann in Reston. I have never found an inclusive Catholic church in the NOVA area. I just ignore that crazy anti-abortion stuff and don't participate in it or anything else I am not comfortable with.

I used to go to Christ the King catholic church in Maryland and loved it. It was definitely more diverse!

PP said Catholics are Christians, which is true. They said nothing about all Christians being Catholic.

Bless your heart.

Yes, dear...everyone understood the post.

But apparently some people don’t understand that the OP is looking for a ^Catholic^ community. And, merely living in “the world” among mostly Christians isn’t the same as living in a predominantly catholic neighborhood.

Why is everyone attacking op? There are neighborhoods like this in Pittsburgh, St Louis, Boston and it’s comforting if you’re Catholic.

Yes. Near Our Lady of Victory.

I grew up conservative Catholic. I find it gross and creepy when you think of the origins of these neighborhoods which were born out of WASP hate for Italians, Irish, and Latinos (Puerto Ricans/Mexican Americans). Also Catholics are no longer persecuted while others are--Black churches and synagogues are targets. No one bombs, burns down, or shoots up Catholic churches in the U.S.

I'm another St. John Neumann parishioner. It's a very inclusive and welcome community.

Here are a couple 2020 articles about desecration of Catholic churches in the US. As the second article points out, there's been a lack of coverage about this issue.

Active parishes/schools foster predominantly catholic neighborhoods these days.

And, have you ever read a dcum thread on big families? Note: a big family in Dcumlandia is 4 kids or more. Without fail, those threads prompt all sorts of anti-catholic comments.
