My kid is ES, and she's not playing with the toddlers, or even really going near them. She's also old enough that she's not doing things like licking or mouthing the equipment. If the parents of toddlers and preschoolers don't want them to wear masks at the playground, that's on them; my kid is masked, at least six feet away, and we're outdoors. |
Hi this is OP. I am not interested in policing anyone. I do not want to not wear masks but I also want to be safe and do our part to not be spreaders. What does the guidance say? Its all very confusing |
We are still avoiding any shared equipment, but do seek out grassy fields. We leave if it gets crowded or no masks. It’s a bummer as we live in an apartment. Child is awesome with mask compliance, we bike in neighborhood and occasionally sit by Potomac off trail. |
This is outdated info. Research and see - young kids get it and spread it. . |
Is this thread about COVID? Because it's spread through breathe, not saliva. You realize that, right? By your logic, all adults would be safe since we don't lick or mouth things. ![]() |
So you aren't worried? |
Why? Do you live in the area? Bc pretty much all our close -in jurisdictions actually require a mask when out of the house. |
We have no idea, because contact tracing in this country has been a pathetic joke. But does that mean that we can just blithely declare it "completely safe?" No, it does not. With 6 feet and masks and outside? Probably pretty close. In this case? Hard nope. |
Oh good here’s the Greek chorus again. If you want schools, you need to fight harder than the people saying no. |
You realize that what you linked to says outdoors is low risk, right? |
Only when social distancing is not possible. |
Both statements are true. Young kids do get and can spread it. Young kids don't pass it along as easily as older kids and adults. |
Our local municipality is enacting a mask ordinance for parks and playgrounds. They must be worn if 6' distance can't be maintained, or else a fine will be given. |
No, the thought is still that *younger* kids (below 10) are less likely to transmit the virus. You’re either confusing them with older kids, who do seem to transmit at the same frequency as adults, or you’re thinking of the viral load studies, rather than transmission studies. https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/26/10/20-1315_article |
No, it's not. I know you want it to be, but young kids are not major sources of illness. |
