What are some signs that 2 people are together/ have been intimate?

At my office, it was when the receptionist and the sales guy started commuting to work together.

We are sitting having lunch, and he wanted to taste what I was drinking and just picked up my beverage and drank out of my straw. You don’t just do that with a work friend. It’s the really little things.

Same with us. We worked together in NY and we were in SF for the weekend after a big sales meeting and someone saw us walking through Ghiardelli Square holding hands. Dead giveaway! The word spread like wild fire.

I saw my parents’ neighbor having lunch with a woman and he tasted her wine. Who has wine in the middle of a work day, let alone reaches across the table to try the wine of the person you’re dining with if you’re not in a relationship?

IMO its pretty easy to tell from subtle nuances of behavior, with the caveat that this does not hold if you are personally involved in the situation. But to an objective observer, I think you pick up on lots of little details that you can't really verbalize that makes it clear.

My coach husband was passing out peoples various orders and looked to his affair partner (totally clueless to this fact at the time) and said “I think they still put the mayo on, I’ll take it.” It was a small gesture but I remember thinking why would he know Rebecca Slovic hates mayo??? Probably bc he had lunch with her twice a week for over a year!!! Duh!!!!!

Wow. Are you still married to your husband? Or is he with his AP?

We had been dating for about 8-9 months so at least we fooled one person. It did annoy me that my now DH would pass me in the hall and just say hi as though I wasn’t the girl he had had great sex with the night before!

I’m sure he would have loved to have bent you over your desk after hours but he used good judgement!

How do you know he hasn't?

LOL! PP here - he definitely didn’t and if he wanted to I was too prim and proper to let him do it. But we have been married a long time and I’ve been bent over plenty of times since then.
