Karen Bass @ Scientology ribbon-cutting in 2010

Look, I’m not a Trumpist. Democrats are going to keep getting pantsed if we don’t accept constructive criticism. This is the vetting process. This is when we are supposed to find out everything about potential VPs.

This Scientology thing isn’t a nothingburger like changing bread prices. 🙄

Joe needs to consider this and every other odd, weird, controversial thing about his potential VPs because...it is going to come out, and it is going to be evaluated by voters.

If Joe had picked Bass already, I’d help bury this, but it’s not too late to look very carefully at her background, which is proving to be troubling.

Stop taking everything as a personal attack. This is a necessary process, so we will not be caught off guard with anything.

IMHO, this is disqualifying. Better to find out now.

No! Don’t pick her. People in California may think it is no big deal. Purple states will run if the Democrats are implied as supporters of Scientology.

Ridiculous. No one knew about the cult abuses until the New Yorker expose published one year later in 2011. It's true, and that is all she needs to say, and that she certainly has no positive words now.

NP. I agree. A statement is all that is needed. She’s fine.

Everyone knows what the ads on tv/internet will be like when it comes to Trump, Biden, or Pence. The ads for the Democratic VP are new material. Don’t give the purple voters anything to scare them off. Scientology will. They are the ones that used to stand in line at the grocery store reading about the Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise divorce.
