Do I need a full size stroller?

I love the Minu but that’s all I’ve owned. We bought the Minu and adapters for the Nuna infant car seat (which I also recommend for its light weight and safety). It was such a great set up for the early months and the stroller continues to serve all of our needs.

For what it’s worth, my husband and I did TONS of research and testing of the strollers. IMO you won’t regret the Minu especially when living in NYC. Best of luck!

As city dwellers who mainly walk or take the subway (pre-COVID), we call our Uppababy Cruz the “family SUV.’’ A full-size stroller is great for running errands or just packing everything to be out all day. We bought a cheap lightly used bassinet attachment for the first 5 months and LOVED it. Baby was happy even if we wanted to do a late night backyard bbq with friends. We had the car seat adapter, but our city baby hated the car seat so much on the occasions that we used it that we ended up baby wearing any time we weren’t actually in a car. We definitely could not have used a snap and go, although my friends in the suburbs like them.

We got a hand me down Babyzen Yo-yo, but haven’t had the chance to try it yet. With COVID, we’re confined to our neighborhood and happier with our full size Cruz. I think the full size strollers are better for the urban/walking lifestyle.

+1 since Covid started I have gained a new appreciation for our full-size stroller since we spend so much time taking walks in the neighborhood and don't go much of anywhere else (and DD has been home with us instead of at daycare). The umbrella stroller is great for trips and outings since it's easier to travel with but is not as comfortable to push.

Get a city mini because it folds down quickly into small spaces

As others have said, OP, no you don't need a full size stroller.

Some smaller strollers that either have the ability to add a bassinet and attach a car seat for infants who need the head support include the babyzen yoyo and the city tour (only the 2 or LUX). You could also get a Snap n go. My baby did not like being in the car seat so a bassinet attachment was necessary for us, but that's not all babies.

I would recommend getting a stroller too instead of just planning to babywear your infant. I had bad hot flashes after giving birth and sometimes it got too hot for me to babywear. Also, babywearing got uncomfortable after a while and if you're out for a while, you'll also probably want to bring a diaper bag of stuff and you'll have to strap that to yourself too. It's nice to have an alternative.
