at SGF, It took about a month from getting access to the fresh donor pool to finding one we wanted. another couple weeks to go through the genetic counseling, as both the donor and my spouse had (non-overlapping) recessive gene issues. she was cleared for her cycle prep two months later, retrieval around 3 months, PGT results around 4 months, COVID intermission, and so FET about 6 months after selection. |
| I read somewhere (sorry no citation) that even the most gentle IUI damages the cervix slightly. The bodies response to this is : injury no pregnancy this month. Wait until it heals. Even if only a slight tear. Not the most successful form of infertility treatment. |
Typically, several months from the time you select a donor, or if it's for fresh eggs, from the time the donor is committed. Prior to that there is the process of selecting the donor and learning about the process, which takes time, too. E.g., deciding on what basis to choose the donor, deciding if you are OK with an anonymous donor (if not, finding a known donor), learning about how to talk about it with your kids (not necessarily all the details, but at least getting to understand what questions your kids may have), etc. The donor bank, clinic or agency will be able to shuttle you through the legal process, so that's not really time consuming. There is usually a required counseling session, too. From the mechanical standpoint, it can be done quickly, but I found that it took longer when I factored in all the info there was to take in. None of it changed my mind and I'm very happy. Just wanted to point out that if you're just getting into the DE process, there's more to consider than just the mechanics of it. Also agree with the posters that say IUI doesn't seem like a good fit. |
