Is soccer a contact sport?

Cuz the word hockey is in the name. Anyhow, as far as lacrosse I don’t see lacrosse being any more high contact than soccer plus you’re wearing padded gloves and a barred face mask. Soccer you’re wearing just a shirt and shorts and banging heads, pushing, shielding, slide tackling, running into the keeper. Much more skin to skin close contact than lacrosse.
