UA All-American Tryouts and Tournament?

But Bullis parents are happy

Great competition and all fantastic players. Very tough to choose the best for the team.

I thought it was good. Numbers were down a bit, but they had 9 teams of about 15-17 players per team.

The players from the best schools had the most players at callback game (SJC 22's were strong, Bullis, Gonzaga, Prep). No Landon kids as apparently they had Covid run through that school last week. Couple strong kids from Nova and Annapolis as well.

They will compete for the title, much like last year losing in finals (and the lower team lead by the SJC group won it).

Sounds like some SJC parents are upset.

Not sure how 22's are expected to make a '21 team. I think those kids are really good too. They created a Spotlight team for them. A little unrealistic. The SJC fogo (who is pretty good) didn't even play. The Prep kid on DCE and the '21 from St Christopher's are way better anyway.

Of course but hopefully the college coaches got a look at the other talented kids that showed up ready to play.

He most likely did not play at the level necessary to be called back. It happens.

Last year doesn't count...duh...it's a tryout. It's a great lesson to learn; no spots should be assumed based on past performance in any walk of life.

Only speaking from the girls side, those who have been directly involved in coaching the event themselves label it as "very political" so it seems to boil down to who you know, not what you can do. Some strong players in the area are passing on the event for this reason alone. There should be a good collection of talent, it just may not be the best in the area. These same coaches who have labeled the event political will also tell you it can be a good experience, but you need to go into it understanding what the process involves and how the outcomes may be determined.

This sounds like the opposite of politics. First if he was a 2022 player it is not a surprise most call back’s are 2021. If they did only base it on how the play went then it sounds very fair. I do know some public school players that made call backs.

Saw DC roster. Good team. I would say only really missing 2 kids from Landon re top 21's in area (Didn't try out). Handful of 22's made it too. Will be interesting to see if they compete for the championship.

Last year, DC Highlite team lost in finals to Baltimore.
