| This was going to be our rising 4th grader's first sleepaway experience--the NJ camp just canceled everything today. Said it wouldn't really be camp with all the precautions that would be needed. Oh well, guess wasn't meant to be this year (we'd already informed them that we wouldn't be sending our kid a few days ago). |
| OP here - my camp canceled today...but thanks for the input |
| Ours cancelled too |
| Our camp is in NY. Totally not opening. No chance my kids would go anyway. |
| Just bumping this thread after a couple of weeks ... our sleepaway camp is opening and not requiring the kids to be tested, just quarantine beforehand. Interested in what others have decided to in similar scenarios? We are leaning against. |

We’re doing it. I trust the camp and think the risk is manageable. It’s a small camp and the kids will be isolated once they are there. I expect the next school year to be a washout and to be in quarantine all winter and want to max out the value of summer/outdoor time/lower transmission while we can.

Same here. The camp is testing and isolating. I think the psychological value is worth the risk. |
May I ask what camp? or, initials PC? We are considering camp end of July for 2 weeks. Negative covid test plus quarantine prior to arrival is required. Not sure what we will do. As it is, I am being recalled to work and our levels of exposure during that month will rise, given that--its either sleep away or day camp for us that month. We plan to test on coming home, and quarantining then too. |
| If testing is required, that’s a different situation. Ours would not require testing- just a loose quarantine. Our son is so sad but I think we aren’t going to send him. |
Ours is testing - twice. I wouldn't send my kid if they weren't. |
