They announced a semester beginning earlier and ending earlier.

| How does every thread turn into a rant about Trump? |
Freshman and transfer students are still scheduled to arrive starting August 12. Guess this just gives the campus time to ramp up life with students. It also appears some concern about hurricane Isaias factored into the decision. They were originally going to reopen the campus (not move-in, just general reopen) on August 1, and now it's been pushed to August 5. My student (freshman) will be getting a Covid test in the mail from W&M that they will have to submit to be allowed on campus. |
Ultimately the administration and Congress are responsible for how horribly the pandemic has been handled. That bleeds down to states, and how institutions like colleges and public schools are able to cope, or not cope. Yes, the details of open versus reopen, etc. are on the institutions. But had there been actual leadership at the federal level at the start, and coordination with and among states, we would not be in this position at this point in time. So, yeah, as they saying goes, a fish rots from the head, and the head is Trump. |
Didn't the man already have his head severed by Kathy Griffin? |
Because if he was a leader he would have put in place a national strategy, based on scientific facts, and we wouldn't be in the situation we are now!!! |

Soo... trying to get this thread back on topic...
Kid just received their testing kit in the mail. It's a mouth swab-type test. They provide fedex envelope with lab address attached. Amusingly, the box is labelled "Back to School Kit" Weirdest back to school kit ever. |
Kind of weird times we are living through, though. |
And how do they know you didn’t swab your neighbor or your pet chinchilla instead of yourself? |
They know human DNA for one thing. Why would someone swab their neighbor? |
Back to School Kit? Like an EduKit? |
If they’re showing symptoms and their neighbor isn’t. Or if it’s the nose test and they don’t want to feel the pain of that. |
1. It’s throat culture, not nasal 2. There’s no gain to not testing the student. If my kid is positive, I’d want to know so they can isolate at home, not the school. |
What are you talking about? |
