No AA or Hispanic students present in the video?

I guess Asian and middle eastern kids just don’t count as diverse to you. Unreal.

DP. Why so touchy? PP wasn't wrong. Lot of acreage on display.

22102 represent!

22066 too.

+1

Love it.

Loved how he phrased it as "continuing" -- shows he is already working in this field -- amazing!

YES! His individualism and creativity will get him far - so great!

I was responding to the obvious question about diversity. As you know.

The kids can't change their ethnicity or the choice their parents made about sending them to a school with few AA or Hispanic kids. It's their time to be congratulated.

It's not Virginia Tech University. It's Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University. Or just Virginia Tech. Sheesh.

And the poor indecisive boy who chose UVA at the deadline 11:20 pm on April 31.
Overall, cute, fun, creative.

I liked his story. I thought he was cute. He owns his shet (more than most adults).

But ....

I guess it gave me insight as to why it has 3% FARMS which is fairly shocking given that a quarter to a third of FCPS qualifies.

Probably a few but they didn't record a video. This was about 1/3 of the LHS graduates.

There was one student going to Villanova. Does that count?

Loved this, OP! Thanks for posting. As an LHS mom for 10 years, I’m very proud of our incredibly hard-working students! 🥰

I'm sure all the schools are doing some variation of this, and this one was really nicely done and impressive. South Lakes has several different videos put together by different groups and teams, as well as an Instagram account congratulating each kid. If you would like to see results thus far from an IB school (roughly 600 kids overall, this is 134 of them).

And yes, my kid is one of the ones included, and no, I'm not telling you which one

The pp didn't say there was no diversity, the pp said no AA or Hispanic students, which was true. You assumed pp said there was no diversity.

I love that there was at least one smiling future NOVA student. I think it's a great option with the guaranteed admit program. It probably is a great decision especially this year given all the uncertainty about next year.

Langley has a status culture. Kids feel pressure to wear the right clothes/shoes, carry the right handbag, drive the right car. At least the friends I know who went there always felt that way. I would not be surprised if some parents opted out of the video because of where their kids were (or weren't) going. Feel free to blast me, Langley parents, but it is true.

Not a Langley parent but I don't think parents played much role in deciding whether the kids would submit a video. Or even knew this was a thing unless their kids told them and asked for help.

The South Lakes parent found a similar page and again it was about 150 kids from a larger graduating class.
