Especially true in the post-Covid future I think. A schedule with extensive travel requirements not only poses logistical issues, but potentially health issues as well. Teenage boys are not exactly the most sanitary group. Cramming them into van's, buses and hotel rooms every other weekend is asking for trouble. |
Age groups have been "announced" by clubs and communicated to families directly U13, U14, U15, U16, U17, U18/19. Armour has it on their website, along with the coaches for each team for the 20/21 season. |

Nothing exciting there... great marketing move though! |
| Soooooo what wAs the big deal? What’s the announcement? Parents gotta fork out more dollers? |
| the annoucement will be that the MLS league will only field U15 and U19 teams. best of the best, baby. those younger undiscovered phenoms should all be playing up! |
No tiers in the MLS League. Non-MLS play MLS based on location. So BSC will play DC United, Philly Union, NY Red Bulls, Baltimore Armour, etc. For the non-MLS teams, keep in mind that only the top team in each age group is in this league. The other BSC teams play in EDP and NCSL. ECNL for girls. |

COMPETITIONS ← Back to Home 2020-21 Competition Details The rules, regulations and format of MLS NEXT competitions are designed with the best interest of the player’s development in mind. While team success is important and will be rewarded, our primary objective is to challenge players, accelerate their growth and showcase their talents. MLS NEXT clubs will participate in a year-round competitive schedule, including League matches, Events and Playoffs. Clubs can enter teams at the U-13, U-14, U-15, U-16, U-17 and U-19 age groups. While we all want to get back on the field this Fall, the health and safety of our players comes first. As such, each club’s competition schedule will be released with a “phased-in” approach that is in compliance with all federal, state and local government recommendations for youth sports. The MLS NEXT competition schedule will be released shortly. |

So the announcement is there will be no tiers?
Great, let’s use a model that doesn’t work. Making progress USSF |
Why would tiers be necessary? All these are top teams. The goal is to decrease travel and still have meaningful competition. |
| Ha! Meaningful competition!?! Some of the recently added non MLS/not former DA clubs can’t compete against the DCUs and Bethesda. |
Right, Arlington/VDA - tell us all about how you would have been greater had you the guts to try to play in MLS. And also say bye to some of your players who will be going to those clubs, where they may actually learn how to play. |

How some players play MLS and other leagues????
I thought they couldn't. Alexandria youth MLS team is playing other leagues as well. |
So will Springfield |
