Honestly. People say things like this and have no idea what they are talking about. Profiting how? Whose misery? What misery? Are you employed? Making money? Donating everything in need of sustenance to others? If not, stop the scapegoating and appreciate your life and what others do for you instead of carping and sniping about things of which you have no clue.

Is "benefiting" a better word than "profiting" for you? Okay. These ECNL clubs are likely to benefit when their club parents/coaches come on DCUM and try to lure away the best players from folded DA clubs, in order to make their clubs stronger and the target DA clubs weaker. This is a potential club benefit occurring during a pandemic when these clubs have publicly claimed they would not leverage the situation to do. If you are one of the proxies who likes to engage in doing this then I can see why you are upset to have this pointed out.

We can cover the short-term and longer-term financial profit issue separately.

This is crazy talk. It’s nice for the clubs and coaches but if your kid wants to move clubs it sucks. You want your kid sitting out a year or more (with this pandemic who knows how long) because the clubs say you can not move clubs? That has to be against the law.

It’s great that the clubs are doing everything for their benefit but it is very unfair to the players. What if you are a good player but not a starter at your club because the coach favors another player, your club is load at your position or your kid see better exposure for college at another club. If your kid is u14 he or she may not be able to move clubs till u16? U15 and u16 you are totally screwed.

How about asking what is best for the player...you know the paying customers who now have no choice but to buy your product (and at whatever price because you can not go anywhere else). DCUM is not luring any players aways. Player do what is best for themselves and their family situation. At the da/ecnl level there are only a few clubs to go to and most players are staying put because of the pandemic. No one thinks about making this club stronger or weaker when you are leaving a team. They just want their kid playing and happy.

Relax, it’s just a gentlemen’s agreement and has nothing to do with the parents decisions.

Exactly, not sure what many here are not understanding, it's just about clubs not poaching coaches or players but if coaches or players want to leave, they can reach out to clubs of interest and start the transition process if they wish.

Sure clubs are not returning calls.

Wasn't saying that they wouldn't and I would expect them to return calls. If someone reaches out to them that is not poaching. Clubs can't force coaches or players to stay where they don't want to be.

There are a lot of clubs scrambling to figure out which of their own players are returning at this time.

If you aren't getting a response from a coach, try the age group / boys / girls coordinator. If not try the DOC/ED/TD.

If you still get no responses, maybe that club just isn't for you if that is how they operate.

I did contact everyone. No response. It’s one of the clubs in the non compete. Another friend got the same response. Their two kids are u12 and u10 and were not looking for the first team. It’s just weird out there. Same club took a lot of kids from another clubs who did not sign the agreement.

As I've said, I know our club is evaluating potential laterals, including from those who are with other participants in whatever the clubs argreed to do when things shut down. You need to find the right people. And you need to send video. I don't know what else to tell you.

It sounds like you are not actively trying to change clubs. We are trying to change clubs. What happens to us and other people from our club is certain club/s will stop responding if you say the club you are with.

We've reached out (via e-mail) to two of the "big" clubs and one smaller club in the NoVA area and gotten zero responses. In all three cases, we e-mailed the coaches and/or age group coordinators directly.

Ok. You tell me which club you solicited and I will tell you if we are with them.

DP, but we reached out to McLean. I imagine that offers have already gone out and we won't ever hear back.

Offers have gone out to McLean players by today and they have to respond by May 25th. Different coaches have had different response levels to outside inquiries there.

Interesting. We reached out to a "bigger club", and got a response almost immediately.

Anonymous wrote:"We will support one another as we navigate organizational challenges and will not leverage hardships incurred by clubs during the COVID-19 crisis" DMV United Principle #5

One league (DA) folded because of COVID-19 and other leagues formed or stepped up to offer new options. Affected DA clubs scrambled to take care of their players and families when faced with this doubly unexpected hardship (pandemic and loss of league).

McLean, Loudoun, and VDA are all members of DMV United. From the week leading up to the DA announcement amid closure rumors through today, a lot of ECNL people (clearly from these 3 clubs) have been activists on DCUM trying to take advantage of this hardship to attract players away from former DA clubs at a time when these clubs were most vulnerable. Is that leveraging the hardship of former DA clubs? Seems fairly obvious that it was and continues today.

These 3 clubs should have communicated to their parents and coaches that their club would not try to leverage the DA league closure hardship during the COVID-19 crisis and discourage their parents and coaches from also doing so

These 3 clubs have found loop holes on how to recruit. Some coaches have contacted individual players sending them false information.
