Bethesda SC "virtual" training...money grab or earnest attempt?

Many say the problem with US Soccer is a lack of creativity and problem-solving. If that is true, that stupid app is setting us back decades. It’s training for robots.

They're drills, which are necessary and important in any sport.
If you follow the app, and do everything it asks of you, you'll improve.
Of course, it's not going to help creativity and tactics, but it's better than nothing.

It’s more like the parents are telling the kids to do it...and in the end if you are a good player it does not matter how much or how little of this you do.

Since this all began, all I've seen and heard from BSC has been bragging about their app, bragging about all the virtual conferences the director has spoken at, bragging about how innovative they are. Not one word of concern for the parents and kids. Not one word about hardship.
They could not have handles this worse.

We are happy. Sorry you are not.

And I'm sorry you're happy. Really drank the kool-aid.

I have never liked the director. It always seems like shameless self promotion and so disconnected from what actually happens. It was a strange hire - not even a real background in soccer

But our coach has been great at developing all the kids in our team and being competitive . I also like what they have done during this period. It’s been really helpful to my kid and I know other parents feel the same.

Just got a really nice letter from BCC baseball, showing actual empathy for the parents and kids. Offered either a full refund, a 50% refund, or no refund.
Obviously asked to keep the money if possible, but understands if parents need the money more now.
That's the way to handle it, as opposed to BSC's "We made an app, we're wonderful, we need the money so good luck!"

BSC is not the only club duping families with these implicit pressure tactics to keep our money and do useless online drills many DCs did on their own anyway. It's only a matter of time before more parents and players will bore of this and put their foot down. We told our coaches in a professional and honest way that we had no interest and our family had other priorities at least until Fall. They understood and said don't worry about it. No good player will get penalized. Off the record they didn't disagree that this was necessary to offer in order to keep payments paid in to date. This is not just a local issue and more families are starting to send emails about refunds. Ask around.

All the people complaining about BSC and other MD clubs... you do realize that the seasons haven't been canceled yet, and that there may be a partial season right? Maybe less than a 50/50 chance, but not out of the realm of possibilities for June/July. And if so, the refund would only be partial. Given that these things are uncertain, you can understand why that these clubs have not announced a refund policy yet.

The situation with BCC Baseball is different. They completely canceled the season, and therefore they knew they should offer options for complete and partial refunds.

Feels like a lot of people on these boards need a "jump to conclusions" mat.

Answer to the thread title is “both”. They are not mutually exclusive.
