Like the Kyrie in church? |
|
If you spell it Ciara it will be pronounced “See-air-a” here in the states.
|
|
Keira is the proper spelling if you're not doing Ciara or Kyra.
Kiera would be pronounced like Sierra. Key-air-uh |
| Keera |
| I know a Kyra and a Kira. If you don't want to go with Ciara, and I can understand why you wouldn't want to always be correcting people's pronunciation, I would pick Kyra first and Kira second. |
|
Kira or Kyra. Kyra Sedgwick
I knew someone named Ciara, pronounced See-R-Uh. It always seemed like the pronunciation came from an 80s perfume line or wine or something. Kira, however you spell it, is a great name! |
|
I know a Kiera who pronounces it like Tie or Pie: like Kai-ruh.
People will mispronounce it regardless of how you spell it. |
I know a girl who pronounces it Key-are-uh. OP, I would have mangled all the names based on the pronunciations above. Is really think about how you teach your child to deal with a name that WILL be mispronounced. If you’re not up for that, look at Kira. |
I’ve heard Kira pronounced Key-ruh and Kai-ruh. How about Kelly? I haven’t met a kid or teen named Kelly in decades. It’s due for a comeback. |
| Love Kelley. |
| I thought it was Kiera but reading this thread makes me really question myself! Never had a daughter but this was on my list and now Im kind of glad we dodged that bullet! I do love the name though. |
| Oh honey, neither of these. It all seems like such a mess. |
| I have a friend named Kirra. No one ever mispronounces it with that spelling. |
I know a Kirra in DC who pronounces it K-ear-uh. But I’ve heard people call her Ker-uh. |
| Kiera |
