I did this. I had to leave a college bc I had major depression. Once I was better, I attended a community college. I applied to the state flagship school, and was rejected - my grades were okay, but I worked 2 jobs and went to class. I drove down to the school and met with the admissions dept, and explained it to them, and they let me in. I graduated from this Big Ten school 3 years later.

It is feasible, in theory at least -- because the Ivies for the most part don't have any required courses. So a transfer student wouldn't have to make up for any coursework not completed at the previous school.

Yeah, that's right. (Only problem is that Columbia students tend to rely on the Cliff Notes versions of the assigned readings. It's a pity. But true.)
