This is me as well. I have been wondering if I am still banned. I guess so. I used to make pheresis donations where they take only the element they need - usually plasma or WBC. Took over an hour. ABneg, BTW. |

Plenty of some blood types. This is why it’s not useful and gets thrown away.

Clearly common sense isn't YOUR thing. All I ask for is a list of countries. Apparently Finland's Red Cross is able to do that https://www.bloodservice.fi/blood-donation/donate-blood/travelling-abroad-and-blood-donation Since the Fins seem more competent, I'll just go by their standards, which say that one should wait 6 months after visiting Kenya--so I won't donate blood at this time. |
I'm in the same boat. |
+1, I'm on a new medication and you aren't allowed to donate. |
JFC they said "please consider giving" they didn't say YOU MUST GIVE AND IF YOU DON'T, TELL US WHY RIGHT NOW. |
They need platelets more than blood. |
| You know a way they could get lots of people to give blood? Give the COVID-19 test to all donors. I’m assuming they have to rest the blood anyway. Do the donors get their results? |
There aren't enough tests for that and covid isn't spread by blood anyway. They also don't test the blood for other types of coronaviruses, adenoviruses, rhinoviruses, and other things that aren't spread through blood. |
That data is a week old. Even if you are one of the rarer types that had enough, one or two people getting into a bad accident or having surgical complications could put them right in the red zone. Blood lasts a while so if you give now it's good for a few weeks if needed. Giving now is good in case we get shut down more and fewer people can donate. And it's not thrown away if it's not needed. A lot of research is done with blood that wasn't transfused for various reasons. |

I donate regularly (every 8 weeks) and have used both iNova and Red Cross.
I would be very leery about going to either place right now. Neither facility is particularly clean, and I don't believe the staff are following the necessary protocols to avoid being infected or to avoid infecting you. The staff are barely competent to give you a phlebotomy. I would be surprised if they are wearing masks and gloves as they should be. |
Same. I’ve been a vegetarian for 27 years and did not eat meat products when I live in England but they won’t chance it. |
Thanks, Trump. |
| Why was my post deleted that warned people not to go to iNOva or Red Cross donation centers because they are dirty and the staff incompetent? They are fine places to catch Coronavirus. I wouldn't go back until the pandemic is over. |
